About the role

In this role, you\'ll develop your skills as a competent youth justice practitioner and support vulnerable children and young people within a multi-agency approach.

We are looking to appoint a Youth Offending Team Worker to join our Youth Justice Team.

You will be responsible for the management of a caseload of young people who are at risk of involvement in criminality or involved in the criminal justice system.

You will ensure we have what it takes to achieve the objectives of our Youth Justice Plan, developing services that promote the interests of young people and that protect the interests of the community, by seeking to prevent and reduce offending behaviour by young people.

You will deliver high quality assessments and interventions for children and young people involved in the criminal justice system.

You will contribute to the work of established and developing multi agency teams, applying your skills, knowledge and professional judgement within the council and agency requirements helping to ensure seamless service responses to individuals with multiple needs.

About the candidate

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate a commitment to a young person-centred, trauma-informed approach.

You\'ll need to be able to demonstrate evidence of training in related areas as well as a good standard of education and have experience working in an anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive manner

Your experience should include Collaborative work with other agencies, experience of working in a team and substantial experiences of direct work with young people and their families.

You will need a track record of working with challenging behaviour as well as Service planning skills, including assessment, monitoring and review.

You will have knowledge and understanding of restorative justice principles.

Above all, you will be looking to improve the lives of children by working with them to build on their strengths and promote a childhood free from the criminal justice system.
