Your Role
We are looking for a Youth Justice Officer who will work with young people to achieve the statutory functions of the Youth Justice Service, whose principal aim is to prevent offending and reduce re-offending, and through a model of Targeted Youth Support whose main objective is to support vulnerable children and young people who are at risk of engaging in risky behaviour that will affect their life chances.
The focus of this role is to support the work of the Turnaround programme, this will involve holding a case load of children/families open to the Turnaround programme, completing family assessments and delivering intervention. It will also involve some project work to include monitoring the young people on the programme and completing quarterly returns. Also being familiar with the guidance to ensure that we are working to the conditions of grant.
This post includes weekend, bank holiday and out of hours work as part of the duty rota system (with additional pay).
About You
We are looking for a flexible, enthusiastic and highly motivated individual who has demonstrable skills at engaging complex and often chaotic children and young people. We seek a practitioner who is keen to develop new and improved ways of working through creative and innovative informed practice. Experience of working in a Youth Justice Service or similar multi-agency partnership dealing with factors that lead children and young people into crime is essential.
Preference will be given to candidates who hold a relevant professional qualification (eg: Social Work or Probation qualified) but applications will also be considered from candidates who hold a relevant degree plus the Youth Justice PCEP (or equivalent.) Social Workers will be supported to continue their professional development.
