Job Description


This post is offered on a part-time (no fixed working pattern) with a minimum of 40 hours throughout the entire contract, your hours will vary depending on your availability. It is fixed term from October 2023 with funding until July 2024. Please note - This is not a full time post.

As a Widening Participation (WP) Postgraduate Tutor you will assist the University of Glasgow (UofG) WP team in taking forward the suite of UofG WP programmes: FOCUS West (Focus on College and University Study in the West of Scotland) Top-Up Programme; Reach (Access to the High Demand Professions) Programme; Access to a Career Programme; UofG Summer School; UofG Taster Weeks; UofG Sutton Trust Summer School.

You will tutor pupils in secondary schools, on the University campus and online: to raise awareness and aspiration of Higher Education (HE) as an option; on all aspects of the HE application process; in the key skills required for successful first year study at a Higher Education Institution.

Interviews are scheduled to take place between Monday 18th September - Tuesday 19th September and Wednesday 20th September. Not all dates will be used and Interviews will be conducted via Zoom.

If you are successful following interview, you MUST be available for training between 9th-13th October. Additional training dates will be confirmed. Training will take place at different points during this timescale.

Upon successful completion of training, employment will commence in October 2023.

The post for which you are applying is considered \xe2\x80\x9cregistered work\xe2\x80\x9d in terms of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Act. It requires the successful applicant to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member prior to appointment. This check is necessary to ensure that the University of Glasgow fulfils its legal duties under the Act.
