This role is perfect for someone eager to learn and grow while making a real impact.The individual will be required to complete designs to industry standards, assess asset information and integrate designs and as built asset information into the corporate Geographical Information System (GIS).The RoleThe Water Design Technician will work on water infrastructure designs, and the approval and integration of asset information into AWIN corporate systems. They will be responsible for;

  • Preparing site boundary maps in ArcGIS to company standards ready for submission to Regulators.
  • Liaising with clients to secure a clear understanding of the design scope and information requirements.
  • Assisting with the completion of soil / contaminated land report assessments to determine the most appropriate pipe material.
  • Undertaking work to ensure asset information provided by self lay providers as part of the asset adoption process is managed, assessed and upload to the AWIN corporate systems by:
  • Maintaining the Asset Adoption Trackers, ensuring all revisions of asset information for a site are recorded.
  • Completing asset information adoption assessments in line with company standards.
  • Uploading design and as built asset information into the AWIN geographical information system.
  • Supporting the out of hours rota as and when is required, including the delivery of alternative supplies in the event of a water quality incident.
What are we looking for?The holder of this role will ideally either have worked in the fields of water asset design and adoption, and have experience of working on geographical information system, Alternatively be educated to degree level or equivalent and having gained experience of using geographical information systems and/or AutoCAD during their studies. They will also;
  • Must have GCSE level 5 in Maths and English and be happy to work towards obtaining an NVQ Level 3 in Network Mains Design or CABWI Level 3 - Diploma Designing Water Networks.
  • Confident in their written and verbal communication skills and be able to undertaken basic scientific data analysis in Microsoft Excel.
  • Have experience with using AutoCAD and ArcGIS, or should be happy to learn
  • Must hold a valid UK driving license and be willing to travel within England.
