At Barnardo\'s Volunteers are a vital part of our charity, bringing skills, experience and support which help to provide better outcomes for more children and young people.

In the last year approximately 16,000 people volunteered their time across 800 Barnardo\'s services, 600+ retail stores, Fundraising activities, and Business services.

This year, Barnardo\'s have launched a new Volunteering Strategy, committing to \xe2\x80\x9cinvest in volunteers to ensure they maximise their potential, have a transformative experience and provide better outcomes for more children, young people and families\xe2\x80\x9d.

There is a fantastic opportunity to join the Barnardo\'s Volunteering & Community Engagement team as a \'UK Volunteering Support Officer\'.

As a Volunteering Support Officer, you will work remotely across the UK providing a comprehensive, proactive, and professional administration and support service to contribute to support effective volunteer involvement across the charity.

The UK Volunteering Support Officer will help ensure that all our volunteers have a positive experience and are able to actively contribute to transforming the lives of children, young people, and families.

As UK Volunteering Support Officer, you will:

  • Provide high quality administration and support to in line with policy, procedures, legal requirements, and volunteer management good practice.
  • Administer the disclosure process for all volunteers across all four nations of the UK, carrying out DBS/PVG/Access NI checks in accordance with legislation.
  • Maintain Barnardo\'s volunteering systems and troubleshoot any issues.
  • Collect and collate management information and reports, producing statistics/reports on a regular basis.
  • Monitor compliance of volunteer records through regular audits.
  • Respond to external volunteer enquiries and internal volunteer management queries.
  • Assist in the organisation and delivery of meetings and training events.
  • Coordinate the Volunteering team\'s internal communications across the charity, including producing a monthly newsletter and preparing articles and mailouts.
  • Provide administrative support to the Head of Volunteering & Community Engagement
  • Contribute to the development and roll out of specific project/initiatives.
Whilst a knowledge of volunteering is not a requirement for the role, we would like someone who understands the value that volunteers can bring to an organisation.

We are looking for someone who is highly organised, able to prioritise a busy workload, with an excellent attention to detail. Providing exceptional administration support as part of the UK Volunteering Team, you\'ll ensure everything is well organised and co-ordinated to benefit volunteers, volunteer managers at Barnardo\'s.

Excellent customer service, communication, problem solving, and IT skills are key to fulfilling this role.

Whilst the full pay band and salary range is advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum to mid-point of the pay band - this ensures that pay progression steps are available to reward our colleagues annually based on their contribution to excellence and alignment to our values and behaviours.
