Volunteer Peer Advisor

Job Description

About The Role

------------------

Are you ready to

use your voice to create real change

?

As a

Volunteer Peer Advisor

with Compass, you'll be at the heart of shaping the services that support children, young people, and families. Your experiences, ideas, and insight will directly influence how we design and deliver emotional wellbeing and substance use support -- making services stronger, smarter, and more person-centred.

You'll have the chance to

collaborate with teams across Compass

,

attend local and national events

,

help recruit the right people into life-changing roles

, and

develop new resources

that make a real difference. You'll even have opportunities to work with our Board to ensure young people and families truly help lead the way.

Flexible and fully supported

, you can volunteer remotely, locally, or a mix of both -- with

training, supervision, expenses paid, and development opportunities

all part of the package. Along the way, you'll build new skills, grow your confidence, and open doors to future career paths -- while making a meaningful impact that will last far beyond your time with us.

This is your chance to be

heard, empowered, and celebrated

.

Your story has the power to inspire change -- let's make it happen together.

About You

-------------

We are looking for people who are passionate about using their lived experiences to make a difference. Whether you are a young person aged 14-25 looking to be a Young Peer Advisor, or a parent/carer who has supported a young person with emotional wellbeing or substance use looking at becoming a Family Peer Advisor, your insight is powerful -- and we want to work alongside you.

To join us as a Volunteer Peer Advisor, you will bring:

A personal understanding of the impact of emotional wellbeing and substance use on young people and families

The ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality at all times

A commitment to being reliable, punctual, and trustworthy

Good communication skills and confidence to interact with colleagues, young people, and families

We also welcome individuals who are enthusiastic about learning, sharing ideas, and supporting others.

If you have additional experiences, such as working with community groups, participating in peer support networks, or any creative skills in communication or engagement, these could make your contribution even more impactful -- but they are by no means essential.

We'll make sure you have everything you need to feel confident, supported, and valued in your role. Your voice will help shape a better future for others -- and we can't wait to hear it.
