About Us
In 1917 the first People\xe2\x80\x99s Dispensary for Sick Animals was founded to provide vet care for sick and injured pets. Now, over 100 years later and with 48 pet hospitals fully operational across the UK, we\xe2\x80\x99re proud of the fact that we continue to provide expert care to those pets and people who need us most. What we do really matters!
Our approach is unique as we combine pragmatism with a strong client care focus to deliver good clinical outcomes for both people and pets \xe2\x80\x93 we focus on measuring our impact rather than targets. To achieve this balance effectively, support is key and there is always the opportunity to share complex cases and discuss treatments and outcomes with both highly experienced surgeons and those who are new to the profession.
About You
If you want to make a difference and join our amazing organisation, you will be a qualified vet who enjoys working as part of a large and close-knit team providing consistent, quality clinical care. You will have strong people skills, be confident in communicating with a wide range of clients and, of course, have a sense of humour. We also believe in developing talent across the full range of clinical practice so a willingness to share your skills and lead by example is essential.
Your passion for what we do will drive you to champion the charity and promote client contributions and always keep an eye on resources suggesting efficiencies wherever possible. We really do listen.
The work is fast-paced and challenging so we work hard to ensure that you have the work life balance that suits your needs as well as enabling us to deliver an outstanding service. Ask us about flexible options!
About the Hospital
Wolverhampton is a vibrant City, perfectly located in the heart of the West Midlands. Known for its rich cultural diversity and is a thriving centre for arts and entertainment. Our hospital is situated within walking distance of Wolverhampton train station and only a short drive away from the many local amenities
The hospital is open until 6pm every day and our out-of-hours service is run at our Oldbury Pet Hospital in Birmingham so we have no on-call duties overnight. We support whole weekends at our Oldbury site which is covered by a rota across three hospital teams of Vet Surgeons . Any weekends worked come with enhanced pay and stand down time the following week. Work-life balance is very important to us at PDSA, so we are happy to explore flexible and/ or part time working opportunities.
We understand the importance of personal growth, but also that this means different things to different people. We want to support our employees on this journey, whether it be developing clinical skills, or working towards management goals.
