"No targets, just practice your best medicine." If you share our practice ethos based on providing friendly, affordable, approachable veterinary care, we would love to hear from you!
About us
Locally owned by Carla and Ollie, Bristol Emersons Green Vets for Pets is a family orientated and community-based practice, where some members of the team have been with us for 10 years!
We have a lovely friendly and growing client base and with a high percentage of insured pets, we're also able to work up cases to a high standard.
More about the team
We are a team of 26 in total including 8 vets, 10 nurses, 1 practice manager, a reception manager, 5 client care advisors and our cleaner.
You'll be joining an exceptionally experienced vet team including 1 vet studying towards a surgery certificate, a vet with a keen interest in ophthalmology and multiple senior vets with 12+ years of experience and Carla with 25 years who has a keen interest in internal medicine, endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures as well as in soft tissue surgery. We work cases to a high level and don't have to refer much, also benefitting from visiting orthopaedic surgeons.
How we like to work
Our ethos is based on providing friendly, affordable, approachable veterinary care. To do what's best for that pet and owner each time. No targets, just practice your best medicine with clinical freedom and autonomy. We do M&M meetings, regular vet meetings and case discussions. We have an open non-blame culture. It's not the mistake that matters but how you respond to it.
Our days are well organised, and we do a mix of consults, floating and op days with the role also being suitable for a consult only vet. Consults are 15 minutes as standard, but we allocate 30 minutes for complex cases: elderly pets, skin cases, euthanasia etc.
Most of our vets work 10-hour days with 1 hour paid lunch and including admin time to make calls and report lab results.
We also do a mix of shifts including 9am to 7pm, 8.30am to 6.30pm, 8.30am to 4.30pm. The weekend rota is just 1 in 6, Saturday 9 am-5 pm and Sunday 10.30 am-4.30 pm.
Who we are looking for
A passionate vet about general practice, keen to provide compassionate care towards clients. The position would also suit a vet interested with non-surgical bias as well as a recent graduate. Four days a week and 1 in 6 weekends.
