Overview of roleLocation: Stockport, ManchesterAre you ready to take your career to the next level? We have an amazing opportunity for a seasoned professional to step into the role of Contract and Facilities Manager. This position is perfect for someone who thrives on challenges and is passionate about vehicle and fleet management.The role involves managing the existing contracts delivering repair and maintenance of our fleet of LGV's, FLT and associated plant, in line with all legislative and company standards. It is responsible to meet the needs of both internal and external customers through leading and motivating the VMU team.Key Accountabilities

  • You will need good interpersonal skills to enable you to effectively communicate with the service providers and internal Logistics team, as well as other external supporting services. In addition, there will be a requirement to effectively engage with the central business functions in support of the wider delivery of this service to other business units throughout the UK and Northern Ireland
  • We need you to support the National Fleet Engineer with strategic planning and you will also be working on national and local projects so experience of project management is highly desirable
  • To be successful in this role we anticipate that you will likely be a time served vehicle technician so that you have the technical skills required to drive quality and value through the service. You will also have sound IT skills in both Microsoft office as well as experience in fleet and fuel management systems
  • The role has flexible working advantages being able to work on site with an element of home working
The Right PersonEssential
  • Advanced level of technical skills in vehicle maintenance such as completion of a formal apprenticeship to City and Guilds level or equivalent
  • Intermediate level in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word
  • Highly numerate and literate with plenty of financial acumen
  • Ability to collate data efficiently
  • Previous commercial transport experience
  • Previous experience in contract management role
  • Ability to conduct audits and carry out thorough investigations
Advantageous
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and ability to spot trends
  • Effective communicator using negotiating and influencing skills with all stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Previous VMU Management experience in a Blue Chip, FMGC Warehouse Company
  • National CPC qualification
