Job Title: Vehicle Enforcement Team - Business Support Manager

Salary: \xc2\xa332,194 to \xc2\xa334,452 plus a location allowance of \xc2\xa31,721. You will receive \xc2\xa332,194 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of \xc2\xa334,452 will be via incremental progression.

Vehicle Recovery Examination Services (VRES) is a key part of the MPS drive to tackle vehicle crime on the streets of London working in partnership with a number of external agencies and MPS contractors to remove, recover, restore and dispose of vehicles that are involved in collisions, those involved in serious and organised crime that require forensic examinations or those that are seized under Police powers for no insurance or unlicensed. We support frontline policing and operate 24/7/365, we have our own unique in-house policing team, known as the Vehicle Enforcement Team and a command-and-control team.

We currently operate out of two forensic compounds, Perivale, and Charlton. Processing over 40,000 vehicles, we deal with everything from two-wheel bikes all the way up to and including HGV\'s. Our work has a direct impact upon the service the MPS delivers Londoners, and it is vital we are able to continue to deliver this service to meet current and future demands.

The post holder\'s primary role will be to work in conjunction with the two Sergeants to support activities of the VRES vehicle enforcement team (VET) which are based at Perivale and Charlton Police pounds.

Key tasks will include:

  • Planning, coordinating, and executing regular MPS wide roadside operations such as Operation Sync, Operation Peloton and Cubo days which the VET will deploy too.
  • Identify changing crime trends and react and respond by tailoring roadside operations to help target and tackle these spikes.
  • Build long lasting relationships with other internal MPS units/teams. Engage with key stakeholders in BCU\'s and Specialist departments promoting the MO11 VET, the resources, expertise, and opportunities collaborative working can bring to tackle crime hot spots across London.
  • Build new and enhance existing working relationships with external partners, to include MIB, DVLA, DVSA, Immigration, Local Authorities and HMRC. Engage and drive their support and involvement in operations through partnership approach policing. This shared focus allows us to deliver value added operations talking key priority crimes with a particular focus around high harm offenders and violence against women and girls.
  • Support a growing team of enthusiastic and proactive MSC officers that work out of both pounds. Identify on-going continuous improvement opportunities and proactively source relevant training aids.
  • Interrogate operational metrics and crime data alongside MIB data to identify team deployment opportunities and locations and provide intelligence packs that support safe deployment and maximise positive work returns of officers.
  • Support team supervisors (both regular and MSC) with administration duties, including but not limited to provide weekly/monthly performance reports, management of resources ensuring they are operational and available (asset management), management of training records and support allocation of course spaces, ensuring health and safety policies are being followed and relevant risk assessments are in place.
Additional Information

The role is primarily a Monday to Friday role, but expectations will be for occasional weekend working to support operations organised which the VE team are deployed to (approximately 10 a year). Any weekend working will qualify for weekend premium payments. Most duties/work will be undertaken during Monday to Friday.

Successful candidates will be expected to remain in their initial role for 2 years before applying for any other internal roles.

Essential For The Role

Essential Criteria
  • Have a valid Full UK Driving licence and be able to travel around different locations promoting the team and identifying locations for stop site locations as well as spend time at both car pounds engaging with the policing team from both venues. Role holder will be required to pass relevant training to hold a police drivers basic permit.
  • Demonstrable evidence of success in building and forming working and strategic relationships across professional and operational boundaries with both internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrable evidence of delivery of policing operations that involve numerous different stake holders both from within the organisation and external partners.
  • Excellent analytical reasoning and organisational skills. Highly organised with the ability to organise own workload and work to challenging deadlines.
  • Experience of identifying, collecting, and presenting information to enable analysis that drives delivery of team objectives.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, influence and negotiate with staff and stakeholders from all levels in the organisation through clear written reports and spoken presentations.
  • Strong knowledge of core policing duties and processes and procedures that officers must follow to include but not limited to, crime investigation, crime reporting, case file preparation, stop and search, Section 165 RTA and vehicle seizures, property and exhibit management and traffic offence reporting.
  • Computer literacy (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and presentational skills.
  • Recent and relevant experience of working closely with MSC officers and have a desire to actively support the development of this growing team.
  • Ability to lead from the front and have a strong team ethos.
  • Adaptable and flexible and able to react quickly to change.
