Aspens is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic
Tutor - Sports and Physical Activities
to join our Day Services team in Battle. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead, develop, and coordinate a diverse range of sports and physical activities that promote the wellbeing of adults with learning disabilities and/or autism.
Located in the picturesque village of Battle, East Sussex, Sussex House Day Opportunities Centre provides a welcoming and supportive environment where individuals can develop skills, gain confidence, and enjoy a fulfilling day. Our dedicated team of highly trained professionals works closely with each person to create a personalised programme of activities, both within our centre and in the local community.
About the Role
You will be responsible for designing and leading inclusive physical activity sessions--ranging from swimming and trampolining to gym, walks, and ball games. You'll also mentor Activity Assistants, create individualised plans, and assess progress in innovative, engaging ways.
You'll play a key role in encouraging participation and supporting service users to build confidence, develop skills, and achieve personal goals in physical fitness and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and coordinate all sports and physical activity sessions
Ensure all activities are underpinned by clear session plans and individual risk assessments
Develop and review Individual Development Plans for service users
Support and supervise Activities Assistants
Record and report on progress for annual reviews
Promote a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment
What We're Looking For
Essential:
Experience delivering sports/fitness sessions
Relevant qualification in sports coaching, physical education, or related field
Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism
Strong organisational and communication skills
Ability to work flexibly to meet service needs
Desirable:
Knowledge of safeguarding and health & safety practices in a sports setting
Creative approach to activity planning and individual engagement
