Full job description for a Outreach Tutor

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Outreach Tutor to provide one-to-one support for pupil's face to face. You would be responsible for planning and delivering personalised and fun sessions, aimed at addressing educational gaps, boosting engagement and fostering confidence in the student. This role requires creativity, patience, and a commitment to helping the students achieve their full potential. At Chalkline we will work with you closely to support and monitor the progress of each pupil.

Hours & Pay for an Outreach Tutor

As an Outreach Tutor agency worker, you will be paid for each tutoring hour delivered, in accordance with the assigned hours allocated to each pupil. The number of hours may vary depending on the individual needs of the pupil and the agreed plan. These hours will be discussed with you before the sessions begin, ensuring clarity on the schedule and expectations for each assignment.

We aim to assign tutoring opportunities close to your home to minimise travel time and make your role as convenient as possible. However, for assignments that may need to travel over 30 minutes, a higher rate of pay will be provided to compensate for this. This would be agreed upon before the assignment begins.

As an Outreach Tutor for Chalkline, you would be considered an agency worker. There is

no need to register as self-employed

, but if you prefer it that way, we can still work with you.

Outreach Tutor Delivery:

Most pupils we work with require support within Maths and English and may have gaps within their learning and confidence. Tutors are expected to adapt to the individual needs and working approaches of each pupil, planning and carrying out interactive, fun and engaging sessions to help maintain the pupil(s) interest and motivation. Flexibility is key, as you may need to adjust activities during sessions to better suit the pupil(s) progress or mood on the day.

Sessions are in-person and on a 1:1 basis

Time & Location for an Outreach Tutor:

Sessions typically take place around school hours, usually between 8.30-16.30. The location will vary, depending on the individual assignment and may include the pupil(s) home, an agreed public venue or their school. The specific arrangements will be discussed and confirmed before sessions begin to ensure suitability for both the tutor and pupil.

Pupils assigned to an Outreach Tutor:

We work with a diverse range of pupils, primarily aged 11 to 16, who have varying needs. This includes children in care, children with special educational needs, or those who require additional support to help them reach their full potential. Each pupil(s) circumstances and requirements are unique, and our approach is tailored to meet their individual needs.

Resources:

As you are required to plan for each session you will need access to a range of internal resources and printables, as well as materials from learning platforms, such as Twinkl or BKSB. In the rare occasion that a session needs to be delivered online, you will be supported with tools like MS Teams or Bramble to ensure a smooth and effective learning experience.

Reporting:

After each session, you will be required to complete a detailed report, including setting SMART targets for each pupil to track their progress and plan for future sessions. Additionally, you would need to submit a timesheet with both being submitted by Friday each week.

All key documents, including templates and resources, will be accessible through Google Drive and you will be provided with your own Chalkline email address to manage communication and access material efficiently.
