About The RoleThe Commissioning Editor (cruise) will devise, commission and create innovative content ideas for the Travel team that work across all platforms. This includes but is not limited to: news analysis, comment, features and destination guides.Key Responsibilities

• To deliver expertise in Travel in general and cruise holidays in particular and to ensure that all features conform to the Telegraphxe2x80x99s Digital First strategy.
• To attend regular commissioning meetings to present features ideas in a collaborative style for team input and development.
• To manage and deliver content for digital output.
• To edit copy at speed.
• To attract freelance writing talent.
• To nurture and develop PR contacts in the industry and beyond.
• To set a high standard of digital journalism (visuals, edits, sells and headlines).
• To find new ways/ideas to drive engagement with travel content.
• To represent Travel externally where and when required.

Key Skills

• Keen instinct for a good story and how to tell it - needs features and lifestyle experience as well as travel.
• Understanding of what content (and particularly cruise content) engages our readers and encourages them to subscribe and register.
• Understand how to deliver on a long-term content strategy.
• Understanding of the trends and cultural shifts in the travel/cruise industry.
• Motivated to build relationships with travel industry contacts, PRs and decision makers and influencers.
• Enthusiasm for travel xe2x80x93 including research and booking patterns
• Demonstrates self-motivation and initiative.
• Able to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy.
• The ability to work comfortably both independently and as part of a team.
• Personable and professional when representing Travel internally and externally.
