Are you an experienced transport professional looking for a leadership role in a fast-paced environment? We are seeking a Transport Team Leader (Nights) to join our dynamic team and play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our transport department.
About the Role
As the Transport Team Leader (Nights), you will support the Transport Manager in overseeing transport operations, ensuring the efficient movement of goods while maintaining high levels of customer service and adhering to agreed budgets. You will manage transport movements, oversee drivers and transport operators, and ensure operational compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage daily transport plans, ensuring accurate resource allocation using relevant software.
Coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure loads are managed in line with the plan.
Oversee transport operators to ensure timely communication of any delays to stakeholders.
Audit driver packs and conduct pre-departure briefings to ensure compliance.
Monitor live transport events and manage delays to ensure on-time deliveries.
Proactively address potential scheduling issues to maintain operational efficiency.
Oversee front desk administration and maintain accurate documentation.
Manage Proof of Delivery (POD) processes and escalate any issues to the line manager.
Interact with customers, addressing inquiries and ensuring high satisfaction levels.
Produce daily shift reports and ensure comprehensive handovers between shifts.
Verify driver licenses to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Ensure legal and safety compliance in route dispatching.
Handle sickness and absence reports, conducting return-to-work interviews.
Support investigations, disciplinaries, and grievances while maintaining confidentiality.
Complete and document incident reports, including RTC reports, staff injury reports, and near-miss reports.
What We're Looking For:
Qualifications & Experience
Proven experience in a similar transport planning or operational role.
Proficiency in transport software and IT systems.
Strong knowledge of driver's hours regulations and working time rules.
Good geographical knowledge of the UK and the ability to estimate journey times.
Transport Manager CPC (desirable).
