Overall Purpose of Role
Due to continued expansion, Oceanscan is recruiting for a Trainee and a Calibration Engineer. The Calibration Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, servicing and calibration of NDT instrumentation in accordance with manufacturers guidelines. As Calibration Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the work allocated to you is carried out in a timely and organized manner with particular attention to maintaining the high QA standards already in place.
Relationships:
Reports to Oceanscan Technical Manager. Liaises with all staff, clients and 3rd parties.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The responsibilities of the postholder will include but not be limited to the following:
The service and calibration of NDT instrumentation in accordance with UKAS BS EN ISO 17025 or manufacturers guidelines.
Accurate and organized documenting of certificates and test sheets
The identification of replacement parts to be purchased by the Workshop Manager
Updating and maintaining goods-in and dispatch records
Ensure the return of 3rd party equipment within the timescales agreed
Completing all outgoing quality assurance checks prior to dispatch
Updating service records of any damaged or faulty equipment
Point of liaison between suppliers, manufacturer's and customers as required
Working collaboratively with the team to ensure calibration laboratory audits deliver the appropriate quality standards
Comply at all times with the Company's Quality and Health & Safety at Work policies.
Experience and Qualifications
Desirable experience and qualifications are as follows:
Working towards NC or equivalent in a relevant area; Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or Engineering Systems
Interest in testing/interfacing and fault finding of NDT or survey equipment
Solid experience of Microsoft Office suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Skills and Knowledge
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Exceptional attention to detail with good analytical skills
Some problem solving skills
Strong communication skills; e.g. report writing, customer service
Personal Qualities
Ability to carry out duties in a timely and organised manner with particular attention to maintaining the high QA standards already in place

Ideally have a clean driving license and the ability to travel to global companies if necessary.
Maintain reasonable levels of fitness to carry out the role and actively participate in medicals and vaccinations where required.
