The Terrace is a AA, Michelin and Good Food Guided-listed restaurant in Yarmouth Harbour overlooking the sea. We pride ourselves on high quality food and service and are open all year round, seven days in summer, five in winter. Over four years we have become an important part of the Yarmouth community, known as a year-round employer that develops careers & skill sets in hospitality. Right now six of our ex FoH leaders are running other well known island restaurants as Managers and five of our former chefs have their own kitchens as Head Chefs. We help team members get used to responsibility and quality and, through this, grow their careers.
For summer 2025 we are keen to develop a new Restaurant Supervisor to work with us year round managing shifts and team members. This role is open to anyone who thinks it might suit them - while having worked in hospitality before means having a good idea of what the job will involve, we hire very much based on culture as opposed to experience. We offer generous tips, a highly professional working environment and a career plan for every team member. Over the quieter months of the spring season we will develop the right person to become a full-fledged shift manager, able to run the entire restaurant on-shift.
Duties:
- Learn our systems, our approach and our customer-centric culture by serving food, taking orders, making drinks.
- Train to understand our food, wine and service offering until you feel comfortable taking ownership of shifts.
- Support team members, providing guidance and support for their professional growth and in unfamiliar situations
- Contribute ideas and new approaches to how we work
- Lead by example, serving guests, running food and keeping focused at all times
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a timely and satisfactory manner.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to create new menu items or modify existing ones.
- Take bookings and share ownership of marketing and operational tasks.
Qualifications:
- Proven reliability
- A desire to learn and develop as a hospitality professional.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with customers, staff, and suppliers.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations while maintaining composure and professionalism
- strong ability to see issues as learning opportunities and to strive for a culture of constant improvement
- Strong problem-solving skills to address issues promptly and find effective solutions
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
