Trainee Mechanical Estimator

to join our dynamic team.

The Role

As a

Trainee Mechanical Estimator

, you will assist in preparing accurate cost estimates for mechanical works (HVAC, plumbing, and other building services) by analysing project specifications, drawings, and technical documents. You'll work closely with our senior estimators, project managers, and engineers while developing your technical knowledge and understanding of the estimating process.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist in preparing mechanical estimates for tender submissions

- Analyse technical drawings and specifications

- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors for quotations

- Support in preparing take-offs and bills of quantities

- Help review and assess tender documentation

- Learn to evaluate risk and identify value engineering opportunities

- Maintain an organised library of pricing, quotes, and cost data

What we're looking for:

- A keen interest in mechanical engineering or building services

- Strong numerical and analytical skills

- Good attention to detail and a willingness to learn

- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

- Ideally, some knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC/plumbing) or a relevant qualification (e.g., BTEC, HNC, NVQ, or similar), though not essential
