JOB OVERVIEWThe Theatre Programme Producer works closely with the Head of Programming & Producing, Artistic Director, Youth and Family Producer and other colleagues on the programming and delivery of our Theatre Programme.The main responsibility of this post holder is to programme the theatre at The Place, and manage the delivery of the programme, liaising within the department to ensure the best experience for visiting artists, from initial contact through to the performance. This is a producing role. The post holder will have strong administrative skills and good attention to detail.This post holder will enjoy researching programme ideas by attending performances and sharings in London, across other areas of the UK, and internationally. They will have a commitment to diversity and will strive to ensure that The Places Theatre Programme reflects the diversity of audiences in London and beyond. Programme highlights from 24/25 included work from Igor x Moreno, Pagrav Dance, Gandini Juggling, Shimmering Productions and Protein Dance.SALARY & CONTRACT TERMSSALARYThe salary for this position is xc2xa335,029 per annum.Salaries are reviewed in August each year when any cost-of-living increases are made. No salary changes are made until after successful completion of a probationary period.CONTRACT TERMSThis is an open-ended permanent contract. This is a full-time position (equivalent to 40 hours per week). These hours are inclusive of a one-hour paid lunch break each day. Your hours of work will be agreed with the line manager.Whilst in the six-month probationary period the notice period will be two weeks. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESPROGRAMMING AND PLANNING

• Programme the Theatre, other spaces in and around The Place, and digital events as may be determined by the Head of Programming & Producing and Artistic Director.
• Research ideas for the programme by attending sharings and performances in London, across the UK, and internationally.
• Develop new projects and initiatives in consultation with the Head of Programming & Producing and Artistic Director.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with artists, producers and organisations to develop the diversity of the Theatre Programme.
• Work collaboratively with and support Guest Curators to programme discrete seasons or festivals within the Theatre Programme.
• Work collaboratively with and support the Youth and Families Producer to programme performances and events for young people and families.
• Maintain and expand individual knowledge of the UK and international dance sector by researching and reading relevant material and by attending and taking part in meetings, watching performances and attending events with the guidance of the Head of Programming & Producing.
• Support the Artist Development Producer and Projects Producers on the planning and delivery of The Places commissions and co-productions in the theatre.

COMMUNICATION

• Build and maintain excellent working relationships with artists, producers, other arts venues, and stakeholders.
• With the Communications Department, ensure that all visiting companies are supported to promote their shows, and aware of all communications deadlines.
• Liaise with The Places Communications Team to develop PR and marketing strategies for the Theatre programmes.

PROGRAMME

• Manage the planning of the Theatre Programme with support from the Assistant Producer. This includes keeping the performance diary up to date, anticipating and negotiating scheduling issues (with colleagues and visiting artists), planning and chairing fortnightly programming meetings, fielding enquiries from artists and flagging opportunities and requests to the Head of Programming & Producing and Artistic Director.
• Manage incoming performances. This includes negotiating contracts with visiting artists (including fee negotiation, technical and marketing support), scheduling, securing work permits and visas, regular liaison with artists to ensure a smooth experience, regular liaison with department colleagues to ensure that all aspects of the performance are known and anticipated.
• Produce the annual season Resolution, supported by the Assistant Producer. This includes the management of the application and selection procedure, liaison with the Communications department about marketing and Resolution Review, devising schedules, issuing contracts, regular liaison with artists and the Resolution team and evaluation.
• Produce activities, projects and festivals within Public Programmes as directed by the Head of Programming & Producing ; these may include off-site performance projects.
• Plan and manage accessible performances (including British Sign Language, audio description, and relaxed performances).

VISITING COMPANIES

• Ensure that visiting companies are fully supported, including booking studio space, allocating dressing rooms and making travel & accommodation arrangements (supported by the Assistant Producer).
• Liaise with the Technical Team to ensure that there is smooth and ongoing communication between artists and the Technical Manager, and that visiting companies technical specifications are received and understood by all necessary colleagues.
• Develop systems for the collection of information, and ensure that information is collected, (for example, contacts details, schedules, identification documents) to comply with UKBA systems, in liaison with the Executive Producer.

FRONT HOUSE, BOX OFFICE, AND EVENTS

• Work closely with the Visitor Services Manager to ensure the smooth running of the Theatre Programme and associated events, including getting seasons on sale, planning events and may include producing events.
• Keep a good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and premises license and advise companies as necessary and to have a good understanding of the Spektrix box office system (or any subsequently implemented box office system).

FINANCE

• Manage the Theatre Programme budget (and associated budgets), which includes forecasting spend (with the Head of Programming & Producing), accurately recording spend, checking monthly management accounts against committed spend, signing off invoices and authorising payments (according to the financial systems of The Place), and flagging any potential overspend at the earliest moment to the Head of Programming & Producing).

• Prepare settlements for visiting companies and theatre hires to ensure they are paid promptly.

MEETINGS AND GENERAL DUTIES

• Attend and contribute to cross organisation, department, and other team meeting
• Line manage staff for which they are responsible including recruitment, induction and appraisals within the practice guidelines of The Place.
• Work with the Executive Producer to ensure adherence to best practice in administrative, financial, contracting and customer care systems.
• Advocate for and represent The Place in all appropriate situations, including at national and international meetings.
• Work within the policies of The Place and contribute to business planning, the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan and the Environmental Action Plan.
• Work with the Executive Producer to fulfil reporting requirements (including ACE NPO, Business Plan and Annual Report).
• Any other duties that may reasonable be requested by the Artistic Director or Head of Programming & Producing.
