Job Purpose

We are looking for a member of the team to continue our ongoing policy projects, which ranges from investigating the connection between structural racism and the climate crisis and promoting teaching race migration and empire in schools.

This role will require someone prepared to lead a high performing team, whilst keeping informed with ongoing political developments surrounding race and racism. This is a challenging role and requires an individual who is well organised, comfortable in different high-stake settings, and is able to combine an understanding of policy with an understanding of the changing debates on race and social justice.

Responsibilties and main duties:

-Policy Engagement: you will lead and co-ordinate the Runnymede Trust's parliamentary engagement.

-Policy Development: the role will involve writing policy briefings, reports and policy research on a range of issues relating to racial equality.

-Strategy Development: working alongside the CEO, Director of Operations and Head of Research, you will work to build our political strategy and develop projects and partnerships.

-Coalition Building: You will workwith high profile stakeholders to advance the Runnymede Trust’s key objectives, as well as building relationships with policymakers and wider civil society groups.

-Representing Runnymede: You will act as a representative for the Runnymede Trust at events and meetings, and act as a media spokesperson as required.

-Managing a Team: You will be responsible for managing the policy function at the Runnymede Trust, including line managing employees working across education and policy and creating a culture of inclusion in this work.
