A member of the UTAC Special Vehicles UK Team, this role should provide practical and administrative support to technicians conducting project work for UTAC Special Vehicles. We are a project orientated business and see a large number of various project types. Project types can vary from in service support of vehicle fleets through to managing a ground up vehicle development/conversion project.
The Technician Team focus on the strip, modification and rebuild of vehicles, but also play a key role in working alongside UTAC SV\xe2\x80\x99s engineering function in the design and development of future vehicle projects. Technician Supervisors form a key element of the UTAC Special Vehicles Team and are primarily responsible for:
Leadership and management of the Technician Team, daily performance monitoring, coaching and mentoring.
Delivery of technician/workshop support to the delivery of complex engineering programmes, working in conjunction with a cross-functional team to deliver to time, cost and quality parameters.
Leader/role model in all aspects of security, health, environmental and safety factors and standards.
Management of the strip, modification, and rebuild of vehicle components.
Ensure technical discrepancies are fed back appropriately to material control, engineering and production control.
The post holder will undertake other duties as required to achieve the Company\xe2\x80\x99s objectives, commensurate with the grading of the post.
Focus on continuous improvement - working with the engineering and production leadership teams to improve efficiency/quality during build.
Conducting routine staff administrative tasks such as return to work interviews, performance reporting and time card completion
Act in accordance with the code of conduct for UTAC group staff at all times.
Qualifications
Industry trained with recognised motor vehicle qualifications either NVQ level 2 or City and Guilds preferred.
Experience
Demonstrable leadership experience
Vehicle conversion experience in mechanical and/or electrical.
Technician experience in a garage or dealership environment.
Fabrication, glazing and electrical abilities desirable.
Preferably experience of working with MoD and/or Automotive OEMs
