We sit as a central team to provide national skills and activities which enable regions and industry partners to deliver the railway for our customers.As a large central functional team which focus on engineering delivery, we have many roles, ranging from pure engineering to project management. We design and influence every part of the railway, including structures, track, traction power, level crossings, signalling and accessibility schemes which are essential to keep our stations moving.Being multi-disciplinary means we have great opportunities to work in design and development of new structures, structural repair schemes, level crossing improvements/closures, line speed increases and access for all schemes. Additional to design work we provide support to the asset management teams, carrying out structural inspections and assessments of existing bridge and canopy structures, some of which were constructed in the Victorian era, confirming current condition, and producing assessment calculations to safeguard structural capacity and extend their operational life.About the role (External)Vacancy Type: Full-time but flexible working patterns will be consideredDuration: PermanentSalary: Band 5 xc2xa332,000 - xc2xa336,000 dependant on experienceLocations: York ICCFor the first three to six months (depending upon the successful applicants experience) this role will require 5 day attendance in the York office.
