My client is the electricity system operator for Great Britain, making sure that Great Britain has the essential energy it needs by ensuring supply meets demand every second of every day. They are currently in the process of several key Divestitures and Acquisitions (D&A) requiring a significant amount of change across the business, operating model and technology and therefore require a Technical Architect.
Job role:
The Digital Platforms and Infrastructure Technology (DPIT) function has a specialised team withing the wider Divestitures and Acquisitions (D&A) programme that focusses on a wide scope of Platforms and Services that provide the key enabling and supporting services which support the wider objectives and outcomes of the Divestitures and Acquisitions leadership and National Grid Group. This role is to support the programme and Chief Technology Strategist as part of the Divestitures and Acquisitions IT team with the delivery of necessary outcomes which will include ensure technical governance via activities such as options assessments, high level and low-level designs and supporting necessary changes to systems where needed.
This is not a solutions architecture role, but a technical role within the organisation that helps to support the Divestiture related outcomes.
This role requires a can-do attitude with the ability to cope within a very dynamic environment. Some level of hands-on implementation is to be expected due to this being a small team, but the expectation is that resulting delivery of any Architecture or technical recommendations and decisions will mainly be managed through Partners or Operational Deliver teams.
