This is where you come in:

As we move to a new model focusing on vertical accountabilities that provide the autonomy to deliver against a defined outcome, we are looking to recruit a number of Data Product Owners to lead our product teams to define and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for our Data products, aligning them with the overall business objectives and customer needs.

You\'ll be a Technical Lead for our data products teams. Our Product team provides the insights that power our proposition design and strategy for millions of our programme members worldwide. This encompasses the collection, measurement, analysis, and interpretation of data that creates an informed picture of our customer base and utilises this insight to model and predict the impact of proposed propositional changes. We partner with our Customer Directorate to drive customer-informed decision making across our organisation, and at all levels up to the Leadership Team.

The role is truly collaborative, working with key stakeholders to understand data enhancements/requirements to deliver a business-critical product and drive continuous improvement in all key areas.

What will I be doing:

As the Technical Lead for the product team, your role will involve defining the technical vision, roadmap, and strategy for the data product in collaboration with core engineering and the product owner. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and designers, to design, develop, and deliver a robust and scalable data product. Providing technical leadership and guidance, you will ensure the successful execution of the product roadmap by driving the implementation of data pipelines, data processing algorithms, and analytics frameworks. Additionally, you will oversee testing, quality assurance, and deployment processes to ensure the reliability and high performance of the data product. By setting and enforcing coding standards, architectural principles, and development best practices, you will maintain a high-quality, maintainable, and efficient codebase.

You will play a vital role in creating a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing within the team. You will encourage and promote an environment that values new ideas, encourages experimentation, and supports ongoing growth and development. In addition to providing guidance and frameworks to data engineers and developers, you will offer technical guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to help them excel in their roles.

Furthermore, you will stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and best practices, ensuring that the team remains at the forefront of industry advancements and can leverage the most relevant and cutting-edge tools and techniques.

What we\'re looking for: (You will have some of)

The successful Tech Lead will have experience working in Product and delivering features to market - but also an understanding of/experience in other business functions that your product will serve.

  • Experience of Data products - understanding its importance and ensuring all key decisions are data-driven and customer validated.
  • Experience with the AWS Data Ecosystem (Glue, Lambda, Athena, DynamoDB, Sagemaker, Apache Parquet, S3)
  • Experience understanding business data models, flows and requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency at generating high quality technical documentation
  • Strong analytical skills, to troubleshoot and solve complex data problems
  • Experienced working with Agile frameworks and methodologies
