Starting Salary is \xc2\xa347,719 per annum (including London Allowance)*
*This is the expected starting salary for this post however appointment at a higher point may be made for candidates who demonstrate exceptional skills and experience relevant to the role.
Applications are invited for the post of Teaching Fellow in Law and/or Social Sciences to contribute to the Social Sciences, Humanities, Arts and People, and the Economy/Environment (SHAPE) strand of the Integrated Foundation Year programmes at Royal Holloway.
The Integrated Foundation Degree (IFY) is a developmental programme that aims to prepare students for success in higher education and beyond. The programme encourages students to become active lifelong learners providing the opportunity for development through a holistic, coherent curriculum that delivers knowledge, understanding and skills in a fully integrated way. Within the regulative qualification framework, it is distinctive from A Level, other Level 3 and undergraduate study, sitting somewhere between the two - level three and a half working towards level 4. Aligned with Royal Holloway\'s emphasis on widening access, the IFY programme supports students from under-represented backgrounds and those often overlooked in traditional higher education.
The successful candidate will have a PhD (or near to completion), a recognised teaching qualification, and experience teaching at levels 3 and 4 would be desirable. The post holder will play a key role in delivering and assessing NQF level 3 subject content and transition to level 4 on the SHAPE strand of the IFY programme and are open to candidates with specific expertise teaching Law and/or Social Sciences.
Interdisciplinary candidates who can teach across multiple areas within the Foundation Year pathways are highly encouraged. Candidates will also be expected to contribute to the core Interdisciplinary Approaches units, which use topical issues (such as climate change, pandemics, and nuclear warfare) as a springboard for teaching academic and critical thinking skills.
Curriculum development may also be required as part of the drive to improve teaching and learning continuously. Marking and course administration form an integral part of the role.
