JOB PURPOSE
To provide leadership and delivery for History of Art\'s Practical Art module, including the provision of practical instruction and tutorial guidance, and the mounting and assessment of the module\'s summative exhibition.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching and Learning Support
To lead and deliver the Year 2 History of Art BA module, Practical Art.
To work collaboratively with the supporting technician and academic staff in the delivery and assessment of the module.
To support the learning needs of our students across a range of activities (such as practical instruction, tutorials, feedback, assessment and so on).
To supervise the work of students, provide advice on the development of their individual projects and help them with learning problems.
To select appropriate assessment instruments and criteria, assess the work and progress of students by reference to the criteria and provide constructive feedback to students.
To participate in quality assurance mechanisms by contributing to regular module evaluation processes designed to review the operation of modules, responding to student feedback on modules, and suggesting changes aimed at improving module effectiveness.
To ensure adequate resourcing of the module, including maintaining a stock of supplies as needed for the delivery of practical workshops.
To ensure compliance with health and safety in all aspects of work and undertake risk assessments.
Administration and Other Activities
To undertake general duties related to course administration, such as attendance records and completion of assessment feedback forms.

Essential Criteria 1
A good honours degree in Fine Art or Photography. (a)

A track record in contemporary fine art or photography practice. (a,c)

Experience of successfully teaching and assessing fine art in a higher education setting. (a,c)
Essential Criteria 4
Ability to develop own teaching materials, methods and approaches. (a,c)

Ability to use a range of techniques to adapt to the needs of the learners and familiarity with strategies to promote learning. (a,c)
Essential Criteria 6
Experience of module leadership, including supervising the work of co-tutors or technicians. (a,c)
Essential Criteria 7
Experience of supporting students from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures. (a,c)
Essential Criteria 8
Competency in IT and familiarity with a computerised environment. (a,c)
Desirable Criteria 1
A postgraduate qualification in Fine Art or Photography. (a)
