We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support adult learners in a dynamic and inclusive college environment. The role is temporary until 31st July and involves working closely with lecturers and students to promote learning, independence, and academic success.
Key Responsibilities
Support lecturers in the delivery of lessons and activities across a range of adult education courses.
Assist individual learners and small groups, both in the classroom and in practical settings.
Provide tailored support to students with additional learning needs (including SEND and ESOL learners).
Help prepare learning materials and resources as directed by teaching staff.
Promote a positive, respectful, and supportive learning environment for all students.
Assist with classroom management, behaviour support, and administrative tasks as required.
Encourage student engagement, confidence, and participation in lessons.
Maintain accurate records of learner progress and support provided.
Person Specification
Essential:
Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or similar role.
Experience working with adult learners or in further education settings.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work flexibly and adapt to a range of subjects and learning styles.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of learners.
Good organisational and time-management skills.
Desirable:
A relevant TA qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching and Learning).
Experience supporting learners with SEND, ESOL, or other additional needs.
Familiarity with adult education environments and their specific challenges.
Additional Information
You must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS Certificate.
Full induction and training will be provided.
