Full Time - 35 Hours per Week

Open Ended Contract - Permanent

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic administrator to support staff and students in all aspects of administration, learning, teaching and assessment activities associated with the delivery of two newly introduced Postgraduate Taught programmes and specific undergraduate taught courses at the School of Biological Sciences. You will work as part of a dedicated team and assume some shared responsibilities, provide excellent customer service and support and be open to learning new skills.

The Opportunity:

Teaching Administrative Assistants within the School of Biological Sciences are responsible for providing a high-quality administrative support service to undergraduate and postgraduate students and academic colleagues (Programme Directors, Course Organisers, Lecturers, Exam Board Convenors etc.). The role will involve using multiple systems and software.

Support focusses on learning, teaching and assessment activities within the context of internal regulations, recognised practice-based requirements and if applicable professional validation requirements. You are a key person in a student\'s experience of the University and will be professional and approachable working as part of a wider team using your expert knowledge to support academic teaching staff with the delivery of the exciting range of programmes and courses offered by the School.

You will support the delivery of consistently high quality service output and play a pivotal role in creating a welcoming environment (online and in person) for both staff and students. Programme and course allocations may change in line with changing organisational needs and as required you may be asked to provide cover. The School is currently operating a hybrid service with on campus and digital support for staff and students

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Experience of working within a team but also using initiative and judgement to make day-to-day decisions independently and prioritise own work within the annual academic cycle that has periods of very high demand.
  • Experience of delivering tasks with a high level of accuracyand attention to detail.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office packages [particularly Excel, Word]
  • Experience of problem solving and flexibility within a fast changing environment
  • Educated to at least N/SVQ 3 or equivalent level, plus relevant administrative work experience.
