About the Role
Leeds City College are recruiting for a Teacher in Graphic Design to join the Visual Arts team.
This role is part time, 22.2 hours per week (0.6 FTE).
The Visual Arts department at Leeds City College is leading the way across the West Yorkshire region by offering a wide provision of industry led courses, including BTEC and Access to HE which specifically prepare the next generation of creatives for University and/or working in the creative industries. We are a team of both industry and specialist academic teachers who ensure that each of our students is provided with an exceptional experience with outcomes to match. We are looking for someone to join our academic team with a specialist background in graphic design with the ability to deliver on our BTEC courses within our visual arts department.
What You Will Do
Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans.
Motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop their skills to enable progression.
Reflect on what works best in teaching and learning to meet the diverse needs of students.
Deliver inspiring sessions across the curriculum using a wide range of teaching methods for identified modules.
About You
Your experience should be from the commercial graphic design industry, with a working knowledge of how the modern agency operates, both in and out of the studio environment
Specialist technical skills should include: Proficiency with the Adobe suite: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop are essential. Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, XD, Animate are desirable
Photographic experience using DSLR cameras and studio equipment is desirable though not essential
A portfolio of recent work made, to ascertain design ability, is essential
Proficiency with the Google Suite to plan, asses and deliver curriculum
Have a good insight / interest into contemporary industry trends across Graphic Design, Advertising, Marketing, Photography, Social Media, Web Design, Motion Graphics and film
A keen interest / knowledge of both classic and contemporary designers / artists
A teaching qualification with experience in a Further Education setting specialising in visual arts subjects at level 3
Demonstrate a commitment for new and innovative ideas around curriculum development and with an industry focus
Positively managing students to ensure excellent retention, achievement, success and attendance with our cohort of learners
Knowledge of formative and summative assessment and tracking
Knowledge of delivering to diverse courses within visual arts, graphic design, art & design and photography
Excellent planning and organisational skills and the ability to provide productive insight into the development of the courses.
