The role



This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our Tax team as a Tax Assistant. You may have a history of some experience in the accountancy sector and wish to specialise in tax; equally we are open to considering candidates with demonstrable experience of working in an office environment for at least two years, who want to take their first steps into a career in taxation.

Reporting to the Tax Manager you will initially be engaged in the preparation of self-assessment tax returns for a variety of clients including sole traders and individuals with investment income. Over time you will also have the opportunity to get involved in other tax work, including benefit in kind reporting, corporation tax returns and assisting the Tax Manager and Tax Director with research.

Full training, including professional qualifications, will be provided to allow you to develop a rewarding career in tax. Following completion of the probation period, you will have an opportunity to be enrolled on the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) qualification, which will last around two years.

Whilst there will be lots of development opportunities and continued support within the environment and the opportunity to undertake professional studies, the successful applicant will need to self-driven in order make best use of the opportunities available to them.

Responsibilities



Assist in the preparation of tax returns for individuals and businesses, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Conduct thorough analyses of financial documents to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy. Preparing data spreadsheets from clients' records in Excel Drafting letters and emails to clients Contacting HMRC and clients as and when required by the tax team Assisting the directors by researching tax queries as required Assisting the payroll team when required

About you



The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

Proven experience of working in an office environment for two years Strong attention to detail and organisational skills Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Proficient at using Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and Word Keen to learn and develop a career in tax

What we offer



Salary of 25,000 to 27,000 dependent on experience 22 days holiday, plus bank holidays. Increasing by 1 day for each complete year of service up to a maximum of 25 days. Working pattern:

37.5 hour week Monday to Friday, with the office closing at 3pm on a Friday.
