Job Description


To support the Head of UK Tax in the preparation, delivering, and management of 400+ tax returns for the group\'s 400+ partners and former partners.

Seeking a Personal Tax Compliance Accountant to support the Head of UK Tax in executing all aspects of the annual personal tax compliance timetable. The role involves various tasks, including:

  • Creating and maintaining control schedules to ensure the completeness of the population requiring personal tax returns, and documenting responsibilities if not managed by the in-house team.
  • Timely registration of partners as self-employed for National Insurance and ITSA purposes, and establishing necessary authorizations with HMRC.
  • Preparing aide memoires to be sent to partners at the beginning of each tax year.
  • Compiling ITSA returns, including amendments to estimated prior year returns as needed, for review by the Head of UK Tax. This includes calculating taxes owed or overpaid and addressing related personal tax matters, such as allocating liabilities between organisation tax reserves and partners personally or their former/current firms.
  • Preparing banking instructions and supporting schedules for payments, such as those to HMRC and releasing tax reserves to partners at various stages of the tax reserving life cycle.
  • Assisting with the establishment and maintenance of tax reserves.
  • Coordinating with partners, former partners, and third-party agents or advisers.
  • Record the progress and status of tax returns. Track information received from partners to determine additional information needed to prepare tax returns.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Ideally ACA / CTA qualified, and minimum 3 years\' experience in a similar personal tax role
  • Solid knowledge of UK personal taxation.
  • Experience with tax computation software such as CCH or equivalent.
  • Strong IT literacy with proficiency in relevant systems.
  • Proactive mindset with a passion for progress and innovation.
  • Excellent time management and deadline-driven approach.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Keen eye for detail and commitment to maintaining accuracy.
