At Safran Electrical & Power, we recognise that aviation needs to innovate and change in order to protect our environment. We believe that future aircraft power systems will be hybrid-electric or full-electric, which is why we are working to develop and deliver advanced electrical solutions to help decarbonise flight.
If you want to help deliver this future, we are looking for enthusiastic and creative people to join our team.
The UK Safran Electrical & Power team has expertise in designing and developing electrical systems comprising generators, power conversion, distribution and control, with developing expertise in electric motors for aircraft propulsion. As a Systems Design Engineer, you will support electrical machine System Design projects throughout the product life-cycle, from initial requirements capture and analysis, through concept generation, design, manufacture and verification & validation.
The Role
Systems Design Engineer is a role where you will be responsible for developing overall system related technical decisions, while acting as the technical focal point for a project (or projects) throughout its lifecycle. To do this you will need to:
Collaborate with the customer to develop a set of system requirements and agree an overall project plan.
Work with the wider engineering team to analyse requirements, develop system architectures, design concepts and down select to a final engineering solution.
Support the definition of the system V&V plan and support system testing and analysis
Prepare documentation for system qualification and aircraft certification
Help identify continuous improvement opportunities and contribute to the Safran Electrical & Power improvement journey
Desirable Experience
We are looking for candidates with a range of skills and experience, but we're also keen to help people grow and develop in this role. If you have some or all of the following, we'd love to hear from you:
Good understanding of the System Engineering process and its application to the product lifecycle
Experience coordinating the work of others across a range of technical discipline, including the ability to communicate and work with all manner of team members, in a conscientious and inclusive way. This will include working and managing external stakeholder as well as internal.
Experience working within the Aerospace regulatory environment, or similar regulated industry.
A broad understanding of aircraft or other complex safety-critical systems
Knowledge and/or experience of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches and tools
A degree in a relevant engineering subject, or other appropriate qualifications or experience
Specific knowledge of electrical and electronic systems is an advantage but not essential. If you have experience in the design of other complex system types then you have skills we are interested in and we would welcome your application.
