WHAT TO EXPECT
Define and deliver a set of key Powertrain Predictive functions, including shaping the strategy for the development of system control functions within the department. This role will provide technical leadership to deliver core functions and to embed best practice in everything we do by developing methods, processes and tools.
Key responsibilities will include:
Lead the development of Powertrain Predictive functions including future vision, architecture development, delivery of model-based design, test methods and documentation.
Lead the system definition to deliver high standard requirements to the Controls team.
Contribute to the development of tools and methodologies to support the development of supervisory control systems.
Lead resolution of issues within Predictive Features functions to ensure robust launch of products and respond to the feedback from the control and calibration team.
Mentor and coach other members of the team to help build a world class capability in control system development.
Lead the weekly department\'s technical Product Line Engineering Team (PLET) session for Powertrain Predictive functions, which supports detailed design analysis of developing functionality.
WHAT YOU\'LL NEED
As the System Design Lead, you will have good relevant experience of working in Powertrain controls and software. Previous experience of working in a controls and calibration position in modelling complex systems, ideally vehicle and/or Powertrain systems. To hold a formal qualification within a technical discipline such as Degree/ HND/ or time served apprenticeship.
ESSENTIAL
Requirements management in IBM DOORS and Dassault TRM. Task Management in RTC and JIRA
Experience in system modelling using MBSE tools such as IBM Rhapsody or CATIA Magic
Experience of INCA and MDA, Vehicle networks, Logging and debugging on vehicles and rigs
Delivery of Engineering and or analytical projects preferably within the automotive industry
Experience of solving complex technical issues using a structured approach with the ability to identify areas for improvement
DESIRABLE
Knowledge of Powertrain controls and software, to a detailed level
Experience of delivering complex supervisory systems, ideally vehicle and/or Powertrain systems
Experience in developing control systems using Matlab/Simulink and Embedded coder.
Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred
