This role plays a pivotal part in supporting the design and synthesis of novel molecules to translate our groundbreaking biological discoveries into pioneering medicines. It presents an outstanding opportunity to thrive within an exciting, next-generation therapeutics environment. The work pace is dynamic, swift, and engaging. Responsibilities:

• Assume a vital role as a medicinal / synthetic chemist, contributing to the establishment of a dynamic medicinal chemistry group
• Implement cutting-edge in-silico and synthetic techniques to drive drug design, positively impacting progression of medicinal chemistry programs
• Apply efficient and creative methodologies to successfully access synthetic targets on milligram to gram scale against tight timelines
• Execute a broad range of core laboratory skills covering a range of different chemistries
• Coordinate with third party CROs, and troubleshot medicinal and synthetic challenges, to enable timely execution of project activities
• Collaborate across-functions (biology, pharmacology, ADME) to drive efficiencies in the Design-Make-Test-Analyse cycles
• Mentor junior colleagues and peers, and may manage individuals

What we are looking for:

• A synthetic chemist with an MSc or PhD qualification, with significant experience (5+ years) within biotech or pharma.
• A demonstrated ability to lead change and work creatively to solve complex synthetic and medicinal chemistry challenges, drawing on a broad knowledge of organic synthesis, practical and analytical techniques.
• Excellent communication skills, working collaboratively across disciplines to impact drug discovery programs and challenge the status quo. Proactive in maintaining awareness of advances in synthetic and drug design and in identifying opportunities to publish and present scientific progress.
• This role will require you to work from our brand-new state-of-the-art offices and labs situated in Babraham Research Campus, South Cambridge.
