The Estates department is in the process of developing the University\xe2\x80\x99s historic estate to provide a 21st century campus and user experience that meets the increasingly contemporary needs of the people studying, working, and visiting here. The Estates Department is in the final stages of a post pandemic restructure and the Sustainability Transport Coordinator role is a key enabling part of this new structure.
This challenging and exciting role will see you take a leading role working for the Head of Sustainability in the ongoing development and embedding of the University\xe2\x80\x99s new sustainability strategy to create an actively engaged and lived University sustainability culture. This will include being a pro-active champion for the physical, technical, and cultural changes required to animate the Carbon Management and Sustainability Strategies for the University as a whole. This would be with a specific emphasis of travel and transport related activities through documents such as the Green Travel Plan. Compliance with European and UK sustainability, biodiversity, energy, and carbon legislation; and initiatives to drive reduction in the institutional carbon footprint and critically minimizing the recurrent expenditure on utilities will be amongst its core objectives.
Identifying and communicating expert technical and practical advice on travel and transport and its supporting infrastructure related sustainability issues and, specifically, carbon reduction and energy efficiency will be key to your success within this demanding and high-profile role. This is including enabling the staff and student body to catalyze cultural change and achieve their full potential. , not only within the University, but through alignment, collaboration, and partnerships, with those external partners operating in the same sustainability space to maximize the regional and national impact of our sustainability initiatives. An excellent knowledge of renewable travel and transport options, forms of agreement and contract documentation and project costing techniques is also vital, along with the ability to identify opportunities for external funding and lead applications.

The successful candidate will have a positive and tested track record of working in a senior sustainability role in an HEI organisation or similar scale organisational professional service department and exhibit excellent organization, interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills with the ability to communicate with staff and stakeholders at all levels.
