We are currently recruiting for full and part time positions, across a 24 hour rota over 7 days per week. This includes both sleeping and waking nights. Please specify your preferred working hours during your application.

Job Overview



Hi there! I am looking to recruit a friendly, motivated individual to join my team. I am A sixteen year old male and have complex needs, including epilepsy and learning difficulties. I require 2:1 care within my home environment. I have my own accommodation attached to my family home. I need assistance and support with personal care, household duties, home education, leisure and recreational activities. I have full access to a car so a full driving licence is essential. The role offers flexible hours, both part-time and full-time. Previous experience working with children with learning difficulties would be beneficial but not essential as training and support will be given. Salary 11.44 -15hr depending on experience, enhanced pay for Weekends and Bank hols.

Band 1



Entry level support worker.

Will be working towards all required competencies.

Will be working to achieve all mandatory training within 6 months of starting role

Will have regular review with a mentor to monitor progress.

Pay band - 12.21 per hour



Weekends/Nights - 13.44 per hour



Bank holidays - 14.87 per hour



JOB DESCRIPTION



To work with the client in his own home and in the community. To work on a rota with other carers covering a 7 day period to include weekdays, weekends and overnight. To be responsible to the parents and Team Lead Nurse and to work within all guidelines provided to ensure safe care for the client. To provide assistance, support and encouragement to the client as directed by the client's parents and Team Lead Nurse To take direction from the Senior staff in decision making around the client's needs taking into account the client's seizure pattern and behaviour to date. To support senior staff when they are dealing with the clients seizures and take direction from their knowledge and skills around the client and their seizure activity. To assist senior staff in the motivation and encouragement in the participation of a variety of domestic, leisure, recreational and educational activities. Making the day as fun as possible for the client within a caring, friendly ,safe environment. To travel with, act as driver and accompany the client on community activities and holidays as agreed in advance. To support senior staff in monitoring agreed rehabilitation techniques and strategies. To support senior staff with agreed educational plans and strategies. To maintain nutritional needs i.e. cooking, assisting and shopping as necessary. To follow senior staffs lead around nutrition and hydration according to clients needs. To assist senior staff with the client's personal cares such as bathing, washing, toileting, nail cutting and dressing. Encourage client participation at all times. To undertake light household duties (i.e. tidying/laundry) following the cleaning schedule set out by Team Leader. To ensure that the client is cared for in safe, hygienic surroundings. Ensure that the working area for carers complies with Health and Safety Regulations. Helping to meet the emotional needs of the client and, if applicable, other family members/carers. Assisting senior staff with medications as prescribed by the GP and other regimes as set up by other health care professionals under the direction of the Team Lead Nurse. To liaise closely with any other professionals as directed by the Case Manager. To participate in regular review, supervision and training as directed by the Case Manager. To ensure client confidentiality in record keeping and discussions concerning the client. In an emergency, to stand in for other staff if the client would otherwise be at risk or suffer harm. Any other appropriate and reasonable task in relation to the engagement as agreed with the Team Lead Nurse, parents and Case Manager.

Band 2



Experienced support worker.

Will have achieved and are consistently using all required competencies.

Will have gained and maintained all mandatory training.

Will be working towards NVQ level 3 in a related subject area (eg. Epilepsy, Autism, Care).

Will have regular review with a mentor to monitor progress.

Pay band - 15.00 per hour



Weekends/Nights - 17.00 per hour



Bank holidays - 19.50 per hour
