Job Description


We are looking for a high-calibre individual to join our Study Skills team as a Student Learning Developer (1.0 FTE) on a fixed term basis, covering maternity leave.This is a fantastic opportunity to enter a well-established and respected department. The Study Skills team sits within the wider Library and Learning Skills service. As our Student Learning Developer, you will provide study skills support to students online to enhance their academic attainment and employment prospects, design and create engaging online study skills content and collaborate with colleagues across the university to contribute to the best possible experience for our students.We are looking for an individual with a passion for promoting academic excellence, experience of teaching online, and experience of supporting adult learners in a similar role. Experience in creating digital learning materials and knowledge of one of the subject disciplines taught at the University of Law or experience of legal education or working in a legal context are also advantages.As our Student Learning Developer, you will:

  • Provide online study skills support for students through one-to-one and small group appointments, live webinars and the creation of digital study skills resources and materials.
  • Encourage students to develop independent learning and study skills.
  • Liaise with academic and support staff and management to ensure that all learning support interventions are timely, effective, inclusive and appropriate to individual needs, and that practices implemented are in line with University and sector policies, procedures and best practice
  • Actively promote, design and produce innovative online study skills resources to support studentsxe2x80x99 learning, including recordings, videos and multimedia materials for the Universityxe2x80x99s Skills Academy, VLE and the Bloomsbury SkillsforStudy platform and any other external study skills support platforms the university may subscribe to.
We are looking for people who are/have:
  • 2:1 Degree (any relevant subject) or equivalent National Qualifications Framework Level 6 qualification plus a Teaching qualification
  • Able to develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Relevant experience of supporting students aged 16+ in a Tertiary College, FE or (preferably) HE environment
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Experience of providing Online teaching/student support
This is a full-time, home-based role, with flexibility for occasional travel to our UK campuses if required.
