Student Experience Officer

London, United Kingdom

Job Description

Job description

The Faculty of Arts & Humanities is committed to providing students with an exceptional experience, offering them the best opportunity to succeed in their degree and future life. The Student Experience Team (SET) consists of a Student Experience Manager, a Student Experience Coordinator, and two Student Experience Officers. The team works to enhance the student experience by transforming the Faculty\'s student facing functions and maintaining an inclusive community environment.

You will work on projects such as Welcome to King\'s, buddy schemes, student communications, student voice, inclusive education, cohort-building activities and events, and student partnership initiatives.

We work collaboratively with students and staff within the Faculty, and with staff across the College. This particular role will work closely with colleagues in academic and professional services roles across our 11 departments, as well as working with colleagues in the wider Faculty team.

Equity and Inclusion are key factors in our work. We recognise that for all students to feel welcome, celebrated and accepted for who they are, and to have a fulfilling university experience, students from underrepresented backgrounds and students experiencing difficult circumstances may require specific support.

You will be intensely motivated to improve the student experience and to make Higher Education a more accessible, equitable, inclusive space for all students. You will be excited by the opportunity to develop your own ideas to improve the student experience, while also wanting to collaborate with students and learn from sector best practice. You will be given opportunities to create real change, and will be supported to develop your own skills and experience.

This post will be offered on a full-time, indefinite contract.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the Student Experience Manager in delivering a programme of student engagement, cohort-building activities, and student partnership initiatives.
  • Support the Student Experience Coordinator with the operational delivery of key projects throughout the academic year.
  • Manage agreed projects identified as a strategic priority by the Student Experience Manager.
  • Support Faculty activity related to key student lifecycle events, such as Welcome and Graduation.
  • Promote collaborative working to deliver an excellent student experience and enhance our inclusive community across the Faculty.
  • Observe, evaluate and suggest improvements to existing working practices related to student experience, and embed strategies for ongoing success.
  • Attend and support Student Voice initiatives (e.g. Student Staff Liaison Committees), spotting trends across the Faculty that need improvement.
  • Provide detailed analysis of student feedback to relevant colleagues within the team, Department and Faculty and recommend appropriate action and responses.
  • Support the creation, development and delivery of module and programme development plans.
  • Liaise closely with programme teams, professional services colleagues, academic colleagues and student representatives to ensure students feel supported within their programme of study.
  • Keep up to date with relevant internal and external strategy, policy and service innovations to inform best practice and continually drive excellence.
  • Liaise with teams across the College, such as Careers, Student Success, and Wellbeing Advisors.
  • Represent the department and Faculty at appropriate internal and external meetings.
  • Undertake other student experience-related activities.
The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.
