You will be required to work 18.5 hours per week over 2 days on the Monday - Tuesday. Typical hours of work are 0600 \xe2\x80\x93 1715 hrs, hours of work are subject to change.
The role will involve delivering street cleansing and horticultural / grounds maintenance activities across all areas of the borough, to ensure a high standard of customer care is achieved and our service standards are met.
The role is to lead a multi-disciplinary team who carry out grounds maintenance and cleansing duties throughout the borough in line with current Health and Safety legislation. The post requires the successful candidate to be flexible in leading both ground maintenance and street cleansing teams. You will be fundamental in developing and maintaining grounds maintenance and cleansing schedules, supporting supervisors & colleagues to deliver both functions borough wide.
The service covers a variety of tasks and staff are trained on using varied pieces of equipment, (Strimmers, pedestrian mowers, blowers) and vehicles, (ride on mowers, 3.5t/7.5t vans, mechanical sweepers, pedestrian sweepers and RCV\'s).
Duties of Chargehands may include, but are not limited to leading teams to maintain the boroughs parks and open spaces, removal of fly tipping, street cleansing/sweeping and litter picking, carrying out site inspections, planting schemes, maintaining wildflower and naturalising sites.
You will also be required to assist in monitoring performance and standards, inputting accurate data onto IT systems (Microsoft Teams, Excel, Lagan and Mayrise), communicating to colleagues and customers through use of telephone, email and face-to-face contact, recording documentation of work carried out. You will be responsible for issuing equipment, tools and materials to teams, ensuring adequate records are kept up to date and in line with council procedures and supporting Supervisors in the day-to-day running of operations.
