Fixed-term contract until 31st August, with a review thereafter.

Primary purpose and scope of role



The Stores Assistant will support the stores supervisor in the efficient operation and administration of the National Centre's activity equipment, ensuring compliance with all health and safety requirements, and that the Stores facility itself is maintained to an exceptionally high standard of cleanliness and organisation.

Store Assistants will ensure that customers enjoy exceptional customer care and the benefit of being able to use excellent quality equipment, as expected of a National Centre.

Working relationships



The role involves working closely with the operational and instructional teams to ensure that effective planning is done to meet our customers' needs at various times. A strong working relationship with the instructional team is needed to ensure that the kit we supply is relevant to the work of PYB/MTT and the needs of our customers.

Main areas of responsibility



1. To ensure the daily issuing and checking-in of all centre equipment is carried out in a carefully managed and accurate system.

2. To assist in planning what kit is needed and ensure that this is ready for issue and in the correct quantities thus providing a consistent professional service.

3. To provide equipment advice to our customers, working with the instructional team, to ensure our customers have the kit they require for the varied programs.

4. The post holder will assist the stores supervisor in follow the PYB operating policies, procedures, systems and working practices that comply with health and safety legislation, contract requirements, and industry standards and protocols, legislation, contract requirements, and industry standards and protocols.

5. To ensure great customer care and to understand all stores' systems and procedures and appreciation of the store's equipment.

6. Assist in ensuring that the planned and reactive maintenance procedure of the Centre activity equipment is followed so that equipment remains safe and secure and available for use, and the documenting of all checks to provide comprehensive equipment history.

7. Assist in the recording and acting upon of regular conditional checks of key equipment thus ensuring safe equipment and a comprehensive record of safe monitoring

8. To assist with the sports facility's planned maintenance and safety checks and ensure they are done at the required frequencies.

9. To assist with course transport, arranging drops off and pick-ups as required.

10. To assist in the adherence to the lifecycle replacement plan for the activity equipment and action to ensure best practice and whilst ensuring value.

14. To help maintain the best standards of health and safety and security in the work environment identifying and initiating training that is needed.

Person specification



This post requires an organised individual with excellent customer care skills and a broad range of operational knowledge and experience of outdoor activity equipment.

Key Knowledge, Experience, Abilities and Skills



Essential



Previous experience working in retail or stores environment with an outdoor activity focus

Desirable



Experience of working within a health and safety framework, approaches, and standards.

Understanding of and experience in following a comprehensive planned preventative and reactive maintenance regime for activity equipment & facilities.

A range of knowledge covering aspects of activity stores operations to ensure not only compliance but deliver exceptional customer service.

Knowledge and understanding of the process for preparing for and responding to audits and inspections.
