Job Description

What will you be doing?



We're looking for a skilled

Design Engineer

with specialist experience in

tank design

to join a dynamic project within the nuclear energy sector. This is your chance to work on critical infrastructure that supports the UK's energy future. If you're experienced in pressure vessels, structural loads, and thrive on delivering highly accurate engineering designs -- we'd love to hear from you.

Your main responsibilities will include:



Designing and developing

industrial tanks

(including storage, accumulator, surge, and pressure tanks) with a strong focus on

compliance and safety

. Performing

structural and stress calculations

to ensure tanks meet all performance and safety criteria under various loads (hydrostatic, wind, seismic, etc.). Taking designs from concept through to

fabrication, installation, and commissioning

. Utilising

3D modelling and analysis software

to deliver precise and regulation-compliant tank designs. Interpreting and applying standards such as

EN 14015

,

API 650

, and related industry codes in all aspects of the design process.

Who are we looking for?



Tank Design Experience (3-5 years preferred):


You've worked on the design of

storage and pressure tanks

used in sectors such as energy, oil & gas, water treatment, or industrial manufacturing.

Software Skills:


Proficient in tools like

AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks

for 2D/3D modelling; and experience with

stress analysis software

(e.g. AutoPIPE Vessel, PV Elite, COMPRESS, or FEA tools like ANSYS/Abaqus) is highly desirable.

Standards Knowledge:


A strong understanding of

EN 14015

and

API 650

is essential. Familiarity with other standards such as

ASME BPVC

and

EN 13445

is a plus.

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:



A

Bachelor's or Master's degree

in Mechanical Engineering, Tank/Pressure Vessel Design, or a related field A track record of identifying design risks and developing innovative solutions Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach
