Purpose of Role

As the SQD Manager, you\'ll manage the day-to-day running of core parts quality processes (Hotline, NCMP, RTV) and the resources that carry them out. You\'ll manage a team of engineers for series engineering change management and supplier 8D. You will manage any supplier responsible Q-Spill activities in MPC alongside Quality Engineering and work cross functionally with both SQD Management and Operations (Logistics, Manufacturing) to establish a combined agreed status for supplied parts quality disruptions (\xe2\x80\x9chigh hurts suppliers\xe2\x80\x9d) ensuring that improvement plans are in place and regularly reviewed.

The SQD manager acts as the single voice for supplier parts quality topics, communicating status against all supplier responsible down time, NCP, and rework topics into daily production meetings.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Develop, and ensure consistent use of, comprehensive operational Quality standards for use in the standardised inspection & test plan processes.
  • Develop, maintain and/or improve a set of SQD metrics to provide a clear measure of supplier quality performance.
  • Support the Director of SQD on timely delivery of SQD divisional business targets, and local department objectives.
  • Drive stakeholders to ensure \'state of the art\' supplier part quality levels in cars shipped during any new model launch period (until Job 1+90). For parts with maturity of P1 or less, ensure that an SQD approved control plan is in place.
  • Manage the quality controls needed to support any remote quality uplift facilities used during launch, ensuring reworks/concessions are completed & fully validated.
  • Ensure safe working practices.
  • Operate within headcount, process, and budget at all times.
  • Manage 3rd party & STC resources as required to deliver objectives.
  • Act as a mentor, supporting the development of the team (personal growth and professional training) and increasing competency.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Experience within a Quality role at OEM or Tier One level
  • 5+ years at engineer / group leader level
  • Problem solving skills - experienced practioner able to train others
  • Capable using the MSOffice suite of software
  • Proven track record of delivering targets (S,Q,D,C)
  • Experience of Quality tools, APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA and FMEA
  • Experience of lean manufacturing tools is a distinct advantage
  • Experience of using SAP & associated tools is also a distinct advantage
