The Role



As a Sportsbook Trading Risk Analyst, your primary responsibility will be to analyze customer patterns for effective profiling, ensuring informed operational decisions.



The ideal candidate will have knowledge in mathematics and a strong understanding of sports and horse racing betting odds, with proven experience driving long-term P&L in both pre-match and in-play bookmaking through adept customer management. You must possess great communication skills to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels and have a comprehensive awareness of our product offerings and competitive landscape, as well as local market requirements and specific commercial initiatives. Collaboration with other Sportsbook stakeholders is essential to enhance our operations and offerings.


This role requires flexibility, as you will work a variable shift pattern, including days, evenings, weekends and public holidays, along with early mornings and late-night hours, to meet the needs of the business.



What you will do


You will be assigning customers to the correct risk cohort, considering all customers sports and racing bets across the Group. Manage the liability tolerance across sports / events across all our markets, brands and customers. Work with Sportsbook Trading functions to ensure an optimal laying and overround strategy across all our markets. Work with Sportsbook Control function to ensure accordance with compliance standards and regulatory requirements. Work with Sportsbook Performance Management with a view of optimisation for offering configuration across all our markets. Work with the Quant & Data Science teams to develop our proprietary trading and risk algorithms and propensity models. Work with Player Safety & Responsible Gaming departments to facilitate we meet our ambitious sustainability and responsible gambling strategy. Identify and minimize ineffective bonus allocation while maintaining appealing promotional offers. Assist in the business operation process within the overall Sportsbook department as required. Ensure that you adhere to the Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) obligations for your role. Identify and raise any non-compliance incidents promptly to your line manager. Challenge processes, policies and projects that will negatively impact compliance within the Group. Complete all mandatory compliance training assigned to you. Reach out to the Compliance Teams if unsure of any of your compliance obligations or the requirements are unclear.
How you will be measured


Sportsbook betting revenues. Sportsbook betting margin. Revenue by customer segment. Maximizing turnover and increasing revenues of the above. Acting in line with FDJ United values. Successful completion of all relevant training and other compliance activities that support FDJ United's sustainable and responsible growth.
Your experience


In depth demonstrable knowledge of the methods and maths that apply to sports & racing bookmaking. Excellent analytical background with the ability to relate to both business and technical functions, including an understanding of the application of advanced data usage through quantitative analysis (price & propensity modelling, trading algorithms, etc). Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a team environment. Attention to detail, flexibility and initiative are vital. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to deliver solutions in exacting timelines and demanding environments. Strong understanding of Microsoft Office products, particularly MS Excel. Understanding of customer profiling and behavioural trends. A keen interest in sports and horse racing and/or sports and horse racing betting. Hard working, flexible and enthusiastic about meeting challenges with solutions. Industry experience is essential for this role. Fluent in English, both verbal and in writing, is essential.
