Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our Schools Team in East Kent.



You will be joining the team to support us to establish and develop the Balanced System with our primary and secondary schools across East Kent. The successful applicant will work alongside experienced Speech and Language Therapists, Education Specialists, SLT assistants and network of clinical leads to deliver universal, targeted and specialist support to schools and children with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).



We offer a strong support network including good access to CPD and supervision.



The Children's Therapies Team is an integrated therapies team providing Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Specialist Nurse Advisors and Care Co-ordinators to children 0 - 19 years within KCHFT. We work closely with colleagues from other health, education and social care teams to provide an integrated team around the child approach.



To be part of a Link Therapy Team delivering the principles of Balanced System to a cohort of primary & secondary schools.



To jointly manage a caseload of schools/children as part of the Link Therapy Team.



To deliver evidence-based SLT advice, training and interventions for schools and children.



To assess, plan and implement universal, targeted and specialist SLT interventions that support children with a range of speech, language and communication needs.



To develop integrated care plans in partnership with the school, child, young person and / or family recommending and supporting interventions that are appropriate at a universal, targeted and specialist level.



To participate in clinical supervision and access on-going CPD to deliver a safe and effective service to schools.



To actively work as a member of a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams to provide high quality advice, training and interventions to schools, children and young people and their parents/carers in line with our care pathways and the Balanced System
