About the role

Are you already working as a Teaching Assistant, interested in Autism and speech and language, and familiar with therapy programmes? We are looking for a new Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join our therapy team at Linden Bridge School in North East Surrey for the next academic year (on a 12 month fixed-term contract).

The starting salary for this position is \xc2\xa322,028 per annum for 36 hours per week, across 42 weeks of the year, pro-rata to \xc2\xa323,675. The role is term-time plus an additional 15 days per year. Linden Bridge School is in Worcester Park, and we also have an office base in Weybridge. We would consider a part-time post for the right candidate and can also offer some time working in other school settings as well.

We are a large and supportive team who will offer you a thorough induction, ongoing training and excellent line management, so that you can successfully support children\'s language and communication skills in schools.

Our Service

The School-Aged Speech and Language Therapy Service is part of Surrey County Council\'s local SEND offer, working collaboratively in the Inclusion and Additional Needs team with other teams like Educational Psychology and specialist teachers.

We aim to deliver the right support at the right time through assessment and intervention, and equipping families and professionals with the skills and resources to work together to help and support children with SLCN. We follow the Balance model to offer universal, targeted and specialist support for children, families, and the school workforce, and work with children and young people with EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) and those at SEN (Special Education Needs) support.

The role

You will play a pivotal part in supporting children to achieve the outcomes agreed by a Speech and Language Therapist in conjunction with the Linden Bridge staff team and families through a range of activities including:
  • Working individually with children and young people at school
  • Modelling strategies to class teachers/ teaching assistants
  • Working with a small group
  • Creating resources for the therapy team
To be shortlisted to interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:
  • Experience of working with children and young people in a UK school setting
  • Experience of working on communication and interaction targets, and following advice from Speech and Language Therapy
  • An interest in Autism
  • Ability to adapt your approach and communication style to help children communicate
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently
  • A full driving licence with access to a vehicle
