Main duties of the job

Essential qualifications:- Full General Medical Council registration a licence to practise- MBBS or equivalent- FRCS (Orth) or equivalent experience
Desirable qualifications:-Higher degree- Teaching qualification-ATLS Provider
Essential clinical experience:- Ability to take independent responsibility for clinical care of patients- Ability to offer an advanced clinical opinion on a range of both elective and emergency problems in trauma surgery- Validated logbook indicating adequate and appropriate level of specialist orthopaedic surgical operative experience
Desirable clinical experience:- Experience in advanced elective and trauma orthopaedic surgery- Expertise in elective and trauma surgery and at least 6 months experience in a specialist unit or equivalent.- Interest in frame trauma surgery
Essential audit and evidence-based practice:- Experience in devising, conducting and applying audit results
Desirable audit and evidence-based practice:- Training in evidence-based practice
Essential Management & Administrative skills:- Willing and able to work with colleagues in management, nursing and other specialities
Desirable Management & Administrative skills:- Experience of clinical governance
Essential experience:- To ensure the delivery of a high quality, safe and reliable service- Familiar with clinical governance- A willingness to accept responsibility and provide leadership- Awareness of current relevant developments within the NHS- Determination to play a full part in the future development of the service
