The assessment of patients referred for caries management. The provision of specialist care for the more complex cases that are referred to BCHC including the management of patients with dental trauma, congenital dental anomalies and children with behavioural problems, special needs and dental phobias. The provision of care under sedation, primarily inhalation sedation, but with opportunities and facilities for treatment under intravenous sedation. The appointee may be involved in the supervision or teaching of junior members of staff The post holder may be involved in the multidisciplinary clinics held in the department.
The post holder will be involved as appropriate, in the supervision and clinical training of staff within BCHC including dental pre-specialty and specialty trainees, dental therapists and dental nurses. There may be some involvement in the supervision of dental undergraduates and dental therapy undergraduates within BCHC. The post holder is expected to participate in all aspects of Paediatric Dentistry Clinical Governance programmes and activities. The post holder will be involved in regular appraisal and the identification of continuous professional development for which appropriate support will be given.
