Specialist Support Assistant in School Amersham Full-time or Part-time Position Available Starting September 2023 Pay: \xc2\xa375-100 per day No specific qualifications needed! In class / out of class support for behaviour and learning Provide learning support for KS3 students in the class as directed by the class teacher. Support the Class Teacher with the implementation of academic and SEMH baseline assessments for students. Work one-to-one with students or in small groups, according to a programme or planning created and overseen by the class teacher. Provide behaviour support for SEMH students in the class and throughout the school as directed by the class teacher or SLT. This includes the appropriate use of physical intervention in line with School Policy if required. Understand and follow the 6 Principles of Nurture when interacting with students. Re-integration Support - TBC Potential to provide in person and/or remote support where appropriate for students at their mainstream school, as part of a planned re-integration package. Administrative support for the class teacher Support the class teacher with any administrative tasks, for example printing or photocopying resources, creating displays, organising the classroom, contacting parents etc. Support the class teacher to ensure accurate records are maintained of learning and progress, academically and in terms of students SEMH progress. Safeguarding Ensure that all students feel and are safe in school. Follow the Safeguarding Policy properly and completely. Undertake any other duties within the competency of the post as determined by the Head of School. Qualifications Qualifications in English and Mathematics at GSCE level, or a willingness to work towards these. Qualifications related to supporting young people in an educational setting, or a willingness to work towards these. Commitment to all CPD offered. Experience Experience of working in an AP or SEMH special setting (desirable) Experience of working with children who display challenging behaviour Experience of teaching or leading small classes or groups of students in activities Experience of planning and delivering interventions (desirable) Skills The ability to prioritise, plan and organise yourself and others The ability to establish trusting relationships with students, families and professionals The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing The ability to work collaboratively with the team and external partners Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, in order to maintain accurate records and documentation and provide written reports as requested. Effective use of IT for monitoring and recording.
