Appropriate HCPC Registration.2. Undertake a highly specialised clinical caseload of patients to aid in patient assessment and diagnosis, adapting techniques to optimise image quality and diagnostic yield.3. To interpret ultrasound images in order to provide independent written examination reports and referrals and recommendations for further assessment based on findings.4.   • Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound
  • Appropriate Professional Registration e.g. HCPC, RCT or NMC Registration
  • Appropriate relevant Degree or equivalent.
  • Appropriate post qualification experience in an ultrasound department
  • Completed the preceptorship and capability framework for sonographers'
  • Relevant clinical courses
  • Quality assurance supervision and practice
  • Sound knowledge of all areas of Governance including H&S, COSHH, Manual Handling
  • Experience of teaching, mentoring and supporting colleagues training and development.
  • Be able to interpret clinician's requirements, to recognise the urgency of ultrasound requests, prioritise requests and determine the appropriate scanning technique, ensuring that scans are performed in accordance with best practice and research-based evidence.
  • To interpret scans and provide a comprehensive, independent, diagnostic report on the patient's condition and make the appropriate diagnosis.
  • Leadership or management course or qualification or equivalent experience.
  • To be able to respond appropriately to distressed patients and staff and distressing circumstances e.g. suspected physical abuse, major trauma, cancer and death.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

  • Evidence of presenting or publishing local audit, research, or case studies.
  • Trained and experienced in more than one area of ultrasound
