This is a direct replacement for an established post which forms part of the Band 6 OT neurology rotation. The B6 Specialist Occupational Therapist role is integral to the delivery of specialist neuroscience/ neurorehabilitation services across several locations including St George's main hospital site, Queen Mary's Hospital Roehampton, and the Community Neurorehabilitation team in Wandsworth.Main duties of the jobThis post is integral to the delivery of activity within neurosciences/neurorehabilitation with clear specifications around staffing ratios, timeliness of assessment and intensity of rehabilitation, supporting the occupational therapists in the early assessment, early rehabilitation, functional retraining, and discharge planning of patients. The role is essential to support/facilitate flow and patient care through clinical pathways and the post supports the delivery of 7-day services.About usA thriving Foundation Trust at the heart of an integrated healthcare system.   • Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • HPC registration
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development including evidence of reflective practice.

  • Fieldwork Educators Course
  • Attendance at recent post graduate courses relevant to the clinical field of neurology.
ExperienceEssential
  • oPrevious NHS experience either as a qualified Occupational Therapist (substantive or locum) or as an undergraduate Occupational Therapy Student.
  • oPost-qualification experience in Neurology (stroke/TBI)
  • oWorking as part of an MDT
  • oAbility to form a sound prognosis and advise other members of the MDT.
Desirable
  • oPost-qualification experience in a Neuro setting.
  • oPrevious experience at band 6 level
  • oStaff/student supervision/IPR
  • oTeaching experience in in-service programs
  • oInvolvement in Clinical audit
  • oExperience of the research process

  • oGood assessment skills based on a sound clinical reasoning approach.
