At The Bistro at Dunston Hall, we take pride in serving delicious, high-quality food that keeps our customers coming back. Our bistro is a vibrant and welcoming place where culinary creativity and teamwork come together. We are also a highly regarded events venue catering for parties of up to 120 guests. We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Sous Chef to join our kitchen team and help us continue to delight our guests with every dish.

As our Sous Chef, you will be an integral part of our kitchen team, supporting the Head Chef and Senior Sous Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations. You will help to manage daily kitchen activities, including overseeing food preparation and ensuring quality standards. This role is perfect for an ambitious chef looking to develop their skills and grow within a dynamic culinary environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation:
Assist in the preparation, cooking and service of high-quality dishes for both the bistro and events venue. Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control.
Quality Control:
Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure that all dishes meet our high standards. Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen.
Inventory Management:
Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stock control. Ensure that ingredients are fresh, stored properly, and used efficiently.
Health & Safety:
Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, hygiene practices, and kitchen cleanliness. Ensure compliance with all relevant standards and protocols.
Creativity & Development:
Contribute to menu development by suggesting new dishes or improvements to existing ones. Stay updated on culinary trends and techniques.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a kitchen environment, ideally in a Sous Chef role.
Strong culinary skills with a passion for food and creativity in the kitchen.
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices in food service.
